If you are a stranger that stumbled upon this blog and stayed to read, here's an FYI blip. I am a puppy raiser for Guide Dogs for the Blind, Inc. I currently raising my sixth puppy, a male yellow lab named Forte. What I do is volunteer, I do not get paid (although that would be totally awesome!) I'll write about all my other dogs later because I love and enjoyed raising every one.
Forte is sweet and seems milder in temperament than my other dogs. Yeah, I've learned things since dog #1 and have more experience, but I don't want to say "It's all me", because it's not.
Forte arrived in November. He was flown from San Francisco to Salt Lake with his brother, Fullerton, via air cargo. Not first class, not even coach. But in a crate in the belly of the plane. The travel is not as horrific as it sounds, but when you are 9 week puppy whose life has been more or less bliss, a trip like that would put you in shock too.
The vocalizations and reliving issues in the beginning are relatively gone, but with each puppy, there is a learning period. Overall, Forte is an easy going guy. He likes to play with his toys and be my shadow (we're working on that).
When I was on my home from class last semester, Forte decided to "attack" the bone he had on the floor of my car. The timing was right that a Trax train stopped traffic and I could film it while waiting.
Fun in the snow!
