The box on my desk (what my I refer to my computer as) has been replaced by another box on the desk, I'm so excited! A few weeks ago when I was attempting to send an e-card to a friend, a wonderful Trojan program downloaded itself onto my computer and locked up some of the functions and programs on my hard drive. I do have virus protection, firewall, etc. This program seemed to be written to completely by-pass everything Norton Security Suite had. I researched the Trojan and found it was a nasty piece of work that acted like a virus. I couldn't access my task manager, it got into Windows registry, etc. In short, it was a pain in the butt to work around and even harder to remove.
I think it was the last nail in the coffin that caused my computer to be replaced. Even though the program was blocked and deleted, certain functions on my computer weren't the same. Even after wiping the hard drive and starting fresh, it would crash just by plugging in my external drive that had saved all of my files.
Fortune worked out for me to get a new tower and not pay bukoo $$$$. It's better than the system I had, plus has more do-hicky things than I had before. It will work very well for my digital media and graphic designing for school (my major if you didn't know).
Only downside, new box on desk is slightly louder...I think its something I can life considering the issues I have had before.
